Okay young folk, first the good news, it ain’t over
once you hit old guydom. So stop worrying about it. I
wrote this verse turning 70, figuring out Photoshop
to illustrate. I retrieved these stories staying true to
my child mind as much as possible. The idea was to
self publish children’s books. My interest
I soon discovered was far behind the unholy effort
required to make it happen.Hence this website.
Now, the quick bio. It started way back
in the early 70’s in the UK where I learned my trade,
animation design and storyboarding I’d travelled
there from Ottawa, Canada, after co-producing
a successful kid’s TV show, Smart Alec. My first
animation job soon led to ‘boarding and designing
music video segments for the animated
Jackson Five TV series. I think Michael was, what,
ten at the time? The animation scene in London
was awesome in those days, full of eccentrics and
fierce individualists with small independent studios.
In five years I’d had the privilege of knowing and
working with most. My last two with Oscar winning
Richard Williams Studio. This was some time before
his famous animation direction of Roger Rabbit.
It was a privilege to work and learn from many of
the the greats of that era. More animation designing
and ‘boarding ad work in Toronto, Sydney and
New York, where I got into comic cartooning for
mags such as National Lampoon and the birth of
RAW graphix magazine which kicked off the new
era of graphic novels. Eventually I’d moved back
to The Cold White North to raise a family and for
the next 20 years or so toil in the fields of TV
cartoons. In the last years mostly associated with
the TV phenom Arthur to whom we all were grateful
grateful for its deserved longevity. And that’s all
Folks! If you made it this far, thank you!
